Summer is finally here, but sometimes it’s just too hot and muggy outside to stay out there for long. Whether you’ve overextended your stay at your neighbor’s pool or you just want a chill night with a cold one and some air conditioning, there are plenty of new TV and movie releases to stream in June.
From anticipated follow-up seasons for shows like The Orville, Westworld and The Boys, to Sundance film selections, to anticipated stand-up comedy specials, this month there really is something for everyone on all of our favorite streaming services.
Looking for an action-comedy? There’s the debut of The Man From Toronto, for one. Feeling more like an intense drama? We’d like to point you in the direction of Peaky Blinders’ final season or the debut of the limited identity drama Chloe. A J-Lo documentary, a hot new MCU series and two awards shows round out our June picks.

1. The Orville: New Horizons

It’s been three years, but Seth MacFarlane’s space spoof is back on a new streaming service this month. The former Fox series makes its Hulu debut, where it continues to tell the stories of the Orville crew under the leadership of Captain Ed Mercer (MacFarlane). There are plenty of visual effects, zippy one-liners and pop culture references to look forward to as most of the cast returns, including late actor Norm Macdonald, who finished his voice work as Yaphit before his death last September.
2. The Boys (s3)

Get ready for blood, explosions and more politics than ever when the third season of this satirical superhero drama returns. And, after a two-year wait, we’d expect nothing less from our favorite vigilantes. When we return, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and his team continue trying to take down Vought International and superhero team the Seven, led by a very disturbed Homelander (Antony Starr). But when Billy receives a formula that allows him to have his own superpowers for 24 hours, it sparks a moral conflict among the Boys that threatens their very existence.
3. Fire Island
JUNE 3
Pride and Prejudice, but make it modern and queer. This rom-com film, written by Joel Kim Booster, follows two best friends (Booster and Bowen Yang) who plan a week’s vacation in the iconic Fire Island Pines. There, they encounter lots of cheap booze and hang out with eclectic friends, as one of them even finds his own version of Mr. Darcy (Conrad Ricamora).
4. P-Valley (s2)
JUNE 3
Lockdown was tough on everyone, including the characters from this fictional town and strip club. When the second season picks up this month, things are finally starting to lift but there are plenty of consequences to explore. In addition to the moral consequences from the first-season finale, there are also political shifts afoot at the Pynk, as Uncle Clifford (Nicco Annan), Mercedes (Brandee Evans), and Autumn Night (Elarica Johnson) figure out their business.
5. MTV Movie & TV Awards
JUNE 5
There are a few reasons to tune into this yearly celebration of TV and film, including host Vanessa Hudgens. Jack Black is also expected to be in attendance as he’s receiving the Comedic Genius Award, but keep your eyes peeled for a variety of celebrities who are up across a plethora of categories, including two new categories: Best Song and Here for the Hookup.

6. That’s My Time With David Letterman
JUNE 7
David Letterman has made a home at Netflix interviewing famous personalities, but he’s still a comedian at heart. At least that’s the sense we get from his latest project, which filmed recently during the Netflix is a Joke comedy festival. Join Letterman and special comedic guest stars as they perform a quick stand-up set and then sit down with the former late-night host for a deeper dive into their craft.
7. Hustle

At this point, Adam Sandler and Netflix originals may be as co-dependant as peanut butter and jelly. But with this release — the actor’s ninth on the streaming service — he’s ready to pull on our heartstrings with his lesser-known dramatic skills. In his new streaming release, Hustle, Sandler stars as a rule-breaking basketball scout who puts everything on the line for a Spanish basketball player named Bo Cruz (played by real-life NBA player Juancho Hernangómez). Queen Latifah, Robert Duvall, Ben Foster, Jordan Hull, Ainhoa Pillet and Maria Botto also star.
8. The Janes
JUNE 8
These ordinary women were trying to save other women’s lives, and that made them criminals. That’s our entry point to this timely doc about the Jane Collective, an underground group in Chicago that helped more than 11,000 women with abortions prior to Roe v. Wade. The film debuted earlier this year at Sundance to positive reviews but makes its streaming service debut this month.
9. Ms. Marvel

There’s plenty of anticipation for the MCU’s next TV series offering, especially since it stars Marvel’s very first Muslim superhero. Meet Kamala Khan (newcomer Iman Vellani), who feels like a nerdy outsider thanks to her love for gaming and Captain Marvel. But when she suddenly experiences her own superpowers her entire life changes. Following these six episodes (which unroll on a weekly basis), watch for the character to make her big-screen debut in 2023 with The Marvels.

10. Queer As Folk
JUNE 9
If you were a fan of the original Queer As Folk from creator Russell T. Davies, mark your calendars for the debut of this reimagining (that has nothing to do with the previous American remake on Showtime). This iteration, which counts Davies as an executive producer, follows a group of friends in the aftermath of a tragedy in New Orleans. Devin Way, Fin Argus, Ryan O’Connell, Johnny Sibilly and Jesse James Keitel star.
11. For All Mankind (s3)
JUNE 10
If you haven’t gotten into this critically acclaimed streaming release yet, now is your chance with the third-season debut this month. The show hails from creator Ronald D. Moore and explores what would have happened had the Soviet Union beat the United States to the moon back in 1969. In this third installment, the timeline jumps to the 1990s, as the space race progresses from the Moon to Mars. Joel Kinnaman, Shantel VanSanten, Jodi Balfour, Wrenn Schmidt, Krys Marshall and Sonya Walger star.
12. Peaky Blinders (s6)

The end is here for fans who have been following this British drama from the beginning, and if the first five seasons are any indication it’s going to be a wild ride. The season picks up following the Irish-Romani gang’s plans to expand under boss Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy), and following the real-life death of star Helen McCrory, who played Aunt Polly. The actor died in April 2021 from breast cancer at the age of 52 and wasn’t able to film the last season or the upcoming planned movie that will cap this whole story.

Warm up your vocal cords and try to remember what live theater is like because those who live, breathe and sleep Broadway are coming together this month to celebrate the best of the best. Ariana DeBose hosts the show, which airs live and nationwide for the first time in its history.

14. Pete Davidson Presents: The Best Friends

There’s no denying Pete Davidson is one of the most fascinating dudes out there, so we’re super curious to tune into this new streaming release, which he filmed last April during the Netflix is a Joke festival. There, the comedian welcomed some of his besties to help him perform, including Carly Aquilino, Giulio Gallarotti, Joey Gay, Jordan Rock, Dave Sirus, Big Wet and Neko White. He and his BFF Machine Gun Kelly also teamed up for a small performance and cameras captured it all.
15. Halftime

It’s been two years since Jennifer Lopez took the stage at Hard Rock Stadium for the Super Bowl LIV halftime show, but if you’re still curious about what it took to get her there, this doc is for you. The film also covers her amazing work ethic, jaw-dropping preparations and even her relationship with Ben Affleck, making it a must-see for any and all J-Lo fans.
16. God’s Favorite Idiot

Good things typically happen when Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone team up. So naturally, fans are hoping that’s the case here when their new comedy series drops. The new streaming release puts the duo into a workplace sitcom environment, where a mid-level tech support employee (Falcone) suddenly finds himself as God’s new messenger. One who glows, by the way. Kevin Dunn, Ana Scotney and Leslie Bibb also star.
17. Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend

If you’ve missed the decades-long culinary competition featuring some of the world’s greatest chefs going head-to-head in Kitchen Stadium, it’s finally back. And this time it’s got the budget of a streaming service behind it. Alton Brown hosts alongside Kristen Kish and Mark Dacascos.
18. Father of the Bride
JUNE 16
If you’re in the mood for a new(ish) rom-com this month, look no further than the reimagining of this classic film from 1950 and 1991. This time around Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan star as the parents of a young woman (Adria Arjona) who unexpectedly comes home and announces she’s getting married to her boyfriend (Diego Boneta).
19. Mad God
JUNE 16
Horror fans have some high expectations heading into this month’s release of Mad God, a.k.a. the film from Oscar-winning special effects legend Phil Tippett that’s 30 years in the making. This movie is his directorial debut, and it features experimental multi-media that’s had people on the festival circuit chatting. This month it makes its streaming service debut, unraveling the story of The Assasin as he makes his way through a world of tortured souls and monsters.

20. The Old Man

Jeff Bridges returns to TV for the first time in decades to helm the role of Dan Chase, a man first popularized in Thomas Perry’s novel of the same name. This seven-part project revolves around the former CIA agent who has escaped his former life and is living off the grid. But when he’s the target of a failed assassination attempt, the beast reawakens. Bill Heck, John Lithgow, Alia Shawkat, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Amy Brenneman and E.J. Bonilla also star. The first two episodes air back-to-back with weekly installments to follow.
21. Players

E-sports, but make it a mockumentary. That’s the premise of this incoming comedy about a fictional League of Legends team led by a vet named Creamcheese (Misha Brooks). “Documentary filmmakers” follow along as the team puts everything on the line to win their first championship in years, including hiring a 17-year-old rookie prodigy named Organizm.

22. Cha Cha Real Smooth

You’ll probably have a few feels after taking in this Sundance Audience Award winner starring writer and director Cooper Raif. Here he plays a college grad and party starter who falls for a mom (Dakota Johnson) and her autistic teen daughter (Vanessa Burghardt). Brad Garrett, Leslie Mann and Raúl Castillo also star.
23. Good Luck to You, Leo Grande

At 55-years-old, widowed schoolteacher Nancy Stokes (Emma Thomspon) is craving adventure and human connection. Lots and lots of human connection. So she hires an escort named Leo (Daryl McCormack) to help her achieve a sexual bucket list, but the pair end up making an unexpected connection in the process.
24. Jerry and Marge Go Large

Many of us dream of winning the lottery. But how many of us have ever taken advantage of the system by figuring out how to beat the odds? In the early 2000s, Jerry and Marge Selbee did. Now, this biographical comedy starring Bryan Cranston and Annette Bening is about to show us all how. Director David Frankel pulls back the curtain on the jaw-dropping story, in which the retired couple pocketed an impressive $8 million before taxes by snatching up a record number of tickets. Michael McKean, Anna Camp, Rainn Wilson and Larry Wilmore also star.

25. Spiderhead

In the mood for a futuristic crime drama starring some familiar faces? Look no further than the drop of this new streaming release from director Joseph Kosinski. The movie is based on the George Saunders story, Escape From Spiderhead, and stars Chris Hemsworth as a visionary who uses mind-altering drugs to experiment on convicts hoping to shorten their sentences. Miles Teller, Charles Parnell and Jurnee Smollett also star.
26. The Umbrella Academy (s3)

After an extended hiatus, this family of former child heroes returns to face yet another potential apocalypse, only this time they’ll have to team up with the residents of the Sparrow Academy in order to do it. Also of note in Season 3 is the transformation of Vanya Hargreeves into Viktor Hargreeves, which was inspired by portrayer Elliot Page’s own transformation in 2020.
27. The Bear
JUNE 23
Hungry for some feel-good content? This incoming series about a young chef who returns to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop might do it. Jeremy Allen White (Shameless) stars as the chef in question. Following an unexpected family death, he returns to his former stomping grounds and tries to turn the small business into a successful eatery, making connections with his family along the way.
28. Chloe
JUNE 24
People’s lives always look so much shinier on social media, which is plenty of inspiration for this story. The limited series follows a woman named Becky (Erin Doherty) who has been creeping the charmed life of her childhood friend, Chloe (Poppy Gilbert). But when Chloe suddenly dies, Becky assumes a false identity to infiltrate her world and find out what really happened. There, she realizes her former friend’s life was far from the perfect one she showed online.
29. Loot
JUNE 24
Maya Rudolph stars in this workplace comedy about a woman whose husband betrays her, leaving her with nothing but $87 billion. So she turns to the charity foundation that was being run in her name and discovers new meaning in the process. The first three episodes of the Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard brainchild drop at once, with weekly installments to follow. MJ Rodriguez, Ron Funches and Joel Kim Booster also star in this new streaming release.
30. The Man From Toronto
JUNE 24
Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson team for this Toronto-shot action flick that was originally supposed to debut on the big screen, but is now being sent to the streamer instead. The Patrick Hughes-directed action comedy is one part mistaken identity, one part action and all parts Kevin Hart doing his thing. Kaley Cuoco also stars.
31. Rise
JUNE 24
If heartfelt sports stories are your jam, be sure to watch this movie (inspired by real-life events) when it drops on Disney+ this month. The movie traces the story of Nigerian brothers Giannis, Thanasis and Kostas Antetokounmpo, who emigrated from Nigeria to Greece, to America, and eventually, to the NBA.

32. Westworld (s4)
JUNE 26
The world’s creepiest amusement park is back for another ride when the fourth season of this Michael Crichton creation finally debuts after a two-year hiatus. This time around we can expect more time-traveling, top-secret twists and a new cast member in the form of Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story). The first of eight new episodes debuts this month.
33. Only Murders in the Building
JUNE 28
Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin made for an unlikely trio when the first season of this caper comedy dropped on Hulu last year, but since then they’ve proved to be a trio worth watching indeed. Follow along as they return for the second season of their SAG-nominated series, with Cara Delevingne, Shirley MacLaine and Amy Schumer joining in on the satirical, true-crime fun.
Rewind: The Best New Streaming Releases We Watched in May 2022
It was hard not to love the new streaming releases back in May. Not only did it bring the promise of summer and fun with friends and outdoor activities, but it also brought one of the best months in the TV calendar. Once upon a time, networks used to save all of their big finales or must-see episodes for something called May Sweeps. That’s when Nielsen, which tracks ratings, would pay closer attention to the shows people were watching. Higher ratings could potentially translate into advertising dollars, so you always knew something good would be on.
With so many great streaming services to choose from, May continued to be a heavy hitter because anything that was going to be considered for this year’s Emmys needed to debut by May 31. That meant there were tons of new streaming releases to watch in May 2022.
From the return of shows like Stranger Things, which was back after a three-year hiatus, to the final few episodes of Ozark. Not to mention the debut of the anticipated Jessica Biel drama Candy over at Hulu, and the Letterkenny spinoff, Shoresy. We also caught the second season of Jean Smart’s Hacks, as well as a World War II drama starring Colin Firth.
Add in the Obi-Wan Kenobe series over at Disney+, an adaptation of Stephen King’s Firestarter over at Peacock, the Bosch: Legacy premiere on the newly launched Freevee portion of Prime Video and a new season of Kids in the Hall, and it became clear that May was a stellar month for new streaming releases.

1. Moon Knight

There have been many (many) twists over this six-part limited series starring Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke, but the MCU brought it all home with one of this month’s most highly anticipated finales. Moon Knight was one of the best new streaming releases when it debuted back in March, and it stayed that way through the finale in May.

2. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

The series was a prequel to the original series and follows the USS Enterprise under Captain Christopher Pike — played here by Anson Mount. Rebecca Romjin and Ethan Peck also star. If you’re a sci-fi lover, then this series is one of the best streaming releases of the month.

3. The Pentaverate

If you’ve missed Mike Myers in your life and just aren’t feeling another Austin Powers or Wayne’s World re-watch, Netflix has you covered with another film from the comedian’s questionable brain. Here he plays an unlikely Canadian journalist who wants to uncover the truth about a mysterious order — and save the world in the process. However, he’s also playing seven other characters for the fans out there who just want to see Mike do his thing. Jeremy Irons, Ken Jeong and Keegan-Michael Key also star.

4. The Staircase

Colin Firth is in demand. On top of starring in the Netflix release of Operation Mincemeat, he also plays crime novelist Michael Peterson in this dramatized retelling of the famous murder on HBO Max. Peterson was convicted of killing his second wife, Kathleen (Toni Collette) back in 2003 after she was found dead at the bottom of their staircase. But eight years later he was granted a new trial for misleading testimony, resulting in a 16-year ordeal that’s thoroughly explored in this limited series. Sophie Turner and Rosemarie DeWitt also star.

5. Bosch: Legacy

When we last left Bosch (Titus Welliver) he was done with the LAPD and the red tape that stopped him at every turn. Now, when he returns for this spinoff (which is really more like a continuation), he’s working as a private investigator intent on uncovering some hard truths. His newly minted LAPD rookie daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz) and former enemy Honey (Mimi Rogers) join him for all of the fun.
6. Tehran (Season 2)

If you haven’t caught this Israeli spy thriller yet, now’s the time to do so. The story of a Mossad agent (Niv Sultan) who unsuccessfully tried to hack Tehran in a mission to destroy Iran’s nuclear reactor is certainly intense. But this season, Glenn Close joins the action as a British woman living in Tehran to up the ante even further.
7. Candy
MAY 9
If you thought Friday the 13th was just a superstition, this limited series may have you thinking otherwise. Jessica Biel stars as Candy Montgomery, a housewife in the 1980s who murdered her friend Betty Gore (Melanie Lynskey) with an axe on the day in question. “Swinging an axe 41 times, that can’t be easy,” the trailer previews. Catch the complicated story as the show unrolls new episodes daily.

8. Operation Mincemeat

The title may make this World War II-set film sound like a comedy, but director John Madden definitely sets a dramatic tone in this story about two intelligence officers who use a corpse to try and outwit Hitler. For those who aren’t familiar, the operation was in fact a real-life mission, one that to this day is considered one of the most successful deceptions ever achieved during the war. Colin Firth, Matthew Macfadyen, Kelly Macdonald and Rufus Wright star.

9. Hacks (Season 2)

Jean Smart is back for a second helping of her Emmy-winning role following a critically beloved first-season run. When we return, Deborah Vance hits the road with her sarcastic 25-year-old writer Ava (Hannah Einbinder) to reclaim her voice (and funny bone) following that bomb of a set in the first-season finale.

10. The Wilds (Season 2)

When we return for the second season of this survival drama, the stranded girls are now aware of two things: the plane crash was staged, and they aren’t alone. This season they’ll meet the boys who have also been playing out their own version of Lord of the Flies on an adjacent island, spicing up the overall drama.
11. The Time Traveler’s Wife
MAY 15
It’s okay to lose yourself in the romance of it all as Rose Leslie and Theo James team for this adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s novel of the same name. Not to be confused with the 2006 big-screen iteration, this six-part take is adapted by Steven Moffat (Doctor Who) and follows the “intricate and magical love story between Claire and Henry.”

12. The Lincoln Lawyer
MAY 13
You saw the big-screen flick starring Matthew McConaughey and you’ve read the books by Michael Connelly on which the character is based. Now see how Manuel Garcia-Rulfo does as Mick Haller when he tackles the role for this series. The first season is based on Connelly’s The Brass Verdict in particular, with Neve Campbell and Christopher Gorham rounding out the cast.

13. Firestarter

Zac Efron is all grown up in this very adult adaptation of Stephen King’s novel of the same name, which revolves around a young girl (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) who tries to understand why she can suddenly set things aflame with her mind. Gloria Reuben and Kurtwood Smith also star.

14. The Essex Serpent
MAY 13
This adaptation of Sarah Perry’s 1893-set novel of the same name brings Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston together on the small screen. The story revolves around a widow named Cora who moves to Essex to investigate a mythical snake. But when tragedy strikes, the locals quickly turn on her and her seemingly witchy ways.
15. The Kids in the Hall

Canada’s most famous sketch troupe is back. Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson team up once again for a new season of offbeat characters and old favorites, continuing a successful shtick they first popularized all the way back in 1989. Guest stars include Paul Bellini, Pete Davidson, Catherine O’Hara, Kenan Thompson, Brandon Ash-Mohammed, Will Forte, Catherine Reitman, Samantha Bee, Fred Armisen, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Jay Baruchel, Eddie Izzard, Tracee Ellis Ross, Mark Hamill and Colin Mochrie.

If you were into Normal People, mark your calendars for this show from the same creative team. It’s based on the 2017 novel by Sally Rooney and stars Joe Alwyn and Alison Oliver as two college students in Dublin who make an unexpected (and kind of weird) connection with a married couple.

If you didn’t know about Los Angeles’ mysterious billboard icon before, Emmy Rossum (Shameless) is here to educate you. She stars as the title character in this series, which is based on a Hollywood Reporter investigative article about the mysterious character.

18. Love, Death + Robots (Volume 3)

The beloved animated shorts came back to break more tropes and deliver unique viewing experiences with a third volume in May. All eight episodes dropped at once, and at least two stories from the first season have been confirmed. “Some characters are coming back,” creator Tim Miller teased during a live Reddit AMA. “Three of them, three characters. Three robots are actually returning for a sequel.”

22. Stranger Things

Of all the new streaming releases that came May 2022, this was the one we were most looking forward to.
The Upside Down players are finally back for the first half of the show’s anticipated fourth season, three long years since the last season wrapped. The action picks up six months following the Battle of Starcourt, as new supernatural threats surface. In other words, grab some Eggos and fuel up, because it’s going to be an intense season. Ewan McGregor reprised the title role for this spinoff series revolving around the Jedi Master, but when we picked up, he was definitely a little worse for wear. The series follows Obi-Wan during his exile on Tatooine. There, he avoids the wrath of Jedi hunters and the famed Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen, who reprises his role), all while watching over a young Luke Skywalker. Joel Edgerton, Rupert Friend, Kumail Nanjiani and Maya Erskine also star.

24. Shoresy

First Jared Keeso and Jacob Tierney graced us with Letterkenny, the delightful Canadian series about hicks, skids and hockey players. And in May, they teamed up for this spinoff series revolving around one of our favorite puck brawlers, Shoresy. No word on how much time Keeso will spend upside down and naked in this hockey-centric take, but if the original show is any indication there will be plenty of chirps in store. You may want to warn your mother in advance.

If you’ve ever considered yourself a Sex Pistols fan then you’ll definitely want to go back and watch this dramatized mini-series revolving around guitarist Steve Jones. Here he’s played by Toby Wallace, with a supporting cast that includes Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Dylan Llewellyn (Derry Girls) and Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes).

If you’re all caught up on the best new streaming releases of May 2022, then it’s not too late to catch up on the best new series, movies and streaming events from April. Last month was full of more can’t-miss movies and bingeable TV shows. All of the best streaming services had big debuts in April 2022, including the debut of an in-depth Tony Hawk documentary]. We were also jazzed about the debut of A Very British Scandal, given how much noise its predecessor, A Very English Scandal, made at the 2019 Emmys.
The sixth and final season of Better Call Saul also kicked off last month, as did the third season of Bill Hader’s Barry after a three-year wait. Then there was the buzzy new Kardashians series at Hulu, the second seasons of The Flight Attendant and Russian Doll, and the Ansel Elgort-starring series Tokyo Vice.

1. Moon Knight

Okay, technically, this was the top streaming event of March 2022, but we’re guessing most people have yet to catch the premiere of Moon Knight, and we couldn’t resist including it again in our guide to the best new streaming releases of April 2022. The latest MCU TV series has landed on Disney+ with the first of six episodes starring Oscar Isaac, the late Gaspard Ulliel, Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy. The project is the 10th installment of the MCU’s Phase Four.

2. The Bubble
April 1
Judd Apatow is back with this cornball comedy that looks so bad it’s good. The movie features a slew of notable actors (David Duchovny, Fred Armisen, Keegan-Michael Key, Pedro Pascal, Maria Bakalova, Karen Gillan) who play stars stuck at a European hotel during the pandemic. There, they hope to finish their latest CGI-heavy spinoff film, but before long cabin fever begins to set in.
3. The Outlaws
APRIL 1
Stephen Merchant (The Office) teams with Elgin James (Mayans M.C.) to bring American audiences another taste of his dry British humor, this time through a six-part comedy about minor lawbreakers. The players in question are all ordered to perform community service, but what bands them together is fear after one of them gets tangled up with organized crime. Merchant stars alongside Christopher Walken, Clare Perkins, Rhianne Barreto, Gamba Cole, Eleanor Tomlinson and Darren Boyd.
4. Slow Horses
APRIL 1
Apple TV+ continues to bring its big guns, this month with an adaptation of Mike Herron’s novel of the same name. The series revolves around a lowly section of MI5 agents called Slough House, where only the worst agents with the biggest muck-ups are sent. There, they’re led by a guy named Jackson Lamb (played by Gary Oldman in his first regular TV gig), who may be the biggest screw-up of them all. Kristin Scott Thomas, Jonathan Pryce, Olivia Cooke, and Jack Lowden also star. If you’re trying to figure out what to watch in April, this is a great place to start.
5. The 64th Annual Grammy Awards
APRIL 3
One of the biggest (and also one of the most controversial) musical awards shows finally goes down this month after being delayed by several months as a result of the coronavirus. This year Trevor Noah returns to host the festivities, with performers like Billie Eilish, Nas, Olivia Rodrigo and Silk Sonic joining him onstage. One person who won’t be performing is Kanye (or is that Ye?) following his outbursts at Noah on social media in March. But hey, as they say in the biz, the show must go on.

6. Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off

If you’ve always been interested in skateboarding or the downright legend that is Tony Hawk, you’ll definitely want to set some time aside to take in this documentary film from the Duplass brothers. Not only does the film trace his life and career, but it’s already being dubbed the definitive take on the man behind the board. There’s unprecedented access and brand new footage, not to mention other prominent figures like Stacy Peralta, Rodney Mullen, Mike McGill, Lance Mountain and Steve Caballero weighing in on it all.
7. Tokyo Vice

In the need for a new high-octane thriller with even higher stakes and notable acting? This Japanese-set series from director Michael Mann (Miami Vice) is sure to entertain. Ansel Elgort tackles his very first TV gig as leading man Jake Adelstein — a Western journalist working for a Tokyo publication in hopes of peeling back the city’s underbelly and exposing one of its most powerful crime bosses. The first three of 10 episodes drop in the debut, with a weekly rollout to follow. Ken Watanabe, Rachel Keller and Tomohisa Yamashita also star.
8. All the Old Knives
APRIL 8
Chris Pine and Thandiwe Newton team with director James Metz for this tension-filled thriller about two CIA agents who become each other’s suspects in a terrorist plane hijacking that went down eight years ago. Of course, there’s more to this pair of colleagues than meets the eye: not only were they former partners at work, but they also teamed up in the bedroom. Now, in order to get to the bottom of it all they’ll have to challenge the memories they thought they had, all while carving out new insights about each other. Laurence Fishburne and Jonathan Pryce also star in the project, which is based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Olen Steinhauer.
9. 61st Street

Wondering what to watch in April? This timely crime drama from award-winning writer Peter Moffat hits AMC Plus this month with its anticipated debut. The show (which has already been renewed for a second season) revolves around the Chicago criminal justice system and in particular a black high school athlete who becomes the target of police and prosecutors intent on avenging the death of a cop. Courtney B. Vance, Aunjanue Ellis and Holt McCallany star.
10. Our Great National Parks
APRIL 13
With Earth Day coming up on April 22, you can expect a slew of Earth-centered programming to hit this month. One project we’re particularly excited about is this five-part look at some of the world’s greatest national parks and wild spaces. Former President Barack Obama narrates as the cameras capture stunning wildlife footage from Indonesia, Kenya, Patagonia and beyond. If nothing else, this project may solidify Obama’s place among some of the greatest narrators of our time, right beside Morgan Freeman and David Attenborough.
11. The Kardashians

If you aren’t sick of hearing about Kim and her sisters just yet, or if you really just want to see what all the fuss is about for yourself, join the famous reality siblings in their latest, lucrative Hulu series. It’s not for everyone, sure. But if you want to hear more about Kim’s new relationship with Pete Davidson or Kourtney’s wedding plans with Travis Barker, this is definitely the place to be.
12. Killing It
APRIL 14
Dan Goor and Luke Del Tredici (part of the crew behind Brooklyn Nine-Nine) team for this new series starring another NBC fave: Craig Robinson. Here the comedian stars as a prison guard and father who will do pretty much anything to buy a property of his own. So when he learns about a massive snake hunt with a hefty cash prize, he learns all he can about the lost art of python killing. All 10 episodes drop on the streamer at once.
13. Anatomy of a Scandal
APRIL 15
If you’ve been looking for a new anthology series to dig into, David E. Kelley is teaming with Netflix for this incoming tale. Each season focuses on a whole new story, with the first installment based on Sarah Vaughn’s novel of the same name. The fictional psychological thriller traces a sexual-consent scandal with a renowned British politician and examines how the subsequent fallout affects the women in his life. Sienna Miller, Rupert Friend and Michelle Dockery star.
14. Outer Range

If you’re missing Yellowstone in your life, you may want to consider this series from Prime Video, which offers some of those Yellowstone vibes, only with a supernatural twist. Josh Brolin stars as a Wyoming rancher intent on protecting his land no matter what, especially from his gaudy neighbors. But when the man discovers an inexplicable black void in his pasture, suddenly all bets are off. Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos and Will Patton also star.
15. Better Call Saul (S6)

It’s been a long goodbye to the world of Breaking Bad, but with the sixth and final season of its spinoff kicking off this month, that farewell is starting to seem closer than ever. Bob Odenkirk (now recovered from his scary on-set heart attack in 2021) is back as Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill, the shady lawyer first popularized on the mothership series. His origins story comes to a close in a season that’s split into two parts, the latter of which will be announced at a later date.
16. Russian Doll

It’s been three years since the first season of this award-winning series hit the streaming service, but now it’s back with a whole new story for viewers to unravel. This year star and co-creator Natasha Lyonne took over showrunning duties to tell a whole new story of a cynical woman named Nadia, who once again finds herself entangled in a strange time-loop as she approaches her 40th birthday. Charlie Barnett, whose character was stuck in a similar time-loop in the first season, also returns as Alan Zaveri.
17. The Flight Attendant

Kaley Cuoco’s follow-up to The Big Bang Theory returns for a second season this month despite a rather closed-ended finale back in Season 1. When we return to Cassie Bowden’s (Cuoco) world, she’s living her best, sober life in Los Angeles. There she moonlights as a CIA agent “in her spare time.” However, when she accidentally witnesses another international murder, she finds herself getting pulled into chaos all over again. Sharon Stone, Mo McRae, Callie Hernandez, Cheryl Hines, Jessie Ennis, Margaret Cho, Santiago Cabrera, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Mae Martin and JJ Soria join the Season 2 cast.
18. They Call Me Magic

If you couldn’t stop watching the 2020 Michael Jordan documentary The Last Dance, you’ll probably want to schedule some time to watch Magic Johnson’s own docuseries when it hits later this month. The four-part project from director Rick Famuyiwa traces the NBA star’s path from high school, to college, to the majors, and it also pauses to look at his participation in USA basketball’s first-ever Dream Team in 1992.
19. A Very British Scandal
APRIL 22
If you love a good, dramatized retelling of a classic British story, then this is precisely what you want to watch in April. The three-part project is from the same team as the 2018 miniseries A Very English Scandal, only this time they tackle the real-life, headline-generating love story between the Duke and Duchess of Argyll. Paul Bettany and Claire Foy join as the couple in question to unravel a sensationalized story of divorce, bribery, theft, drug use and many other things that would make royals everywhere quiver.
20. Barry (S3)

The third season of Bill Hader’s darkly comedic series returns after a long hiatus this month, continuing the story of a hitman who has big dreams of becoming an actor.
“Even more bad things happen,” Hader teased of the season during the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour. “His one kind of boneheaded way of trying to get in touch with himself ended up really hurting a lot of people. I don’t think he knew the extent that he’s hurt people, and that’s what he’s learning. But yes, there’s much more to discover.”

21. Gaslit

Producer Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot, Homecoming) returns with a brand new take on the Watergate scandal, this time to tell the story of some of history’s lesser-known players. The project (which is technically an anthology if it winds up being renewed) is adapted from the Slate podcast Slow Burn and features an impressive cast including Julia Roberts, Sean Penn, Dan Stevens, Betty Gilpin, Shea Whigham, Allison Tolman and Patton Oswalt.
22. We Own This City
APRIL 25
Writer David Simon (The Wire) returns to Baltimore to adapt this book of the same name by journalist Justin Fenton. The six-episode series follows the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force, which eventually became the target of an FBI investigation. There’s no McNulty, but Jon Bernthal leads a cast including Wunmi Mosaku, Josh Charles, McKinley Belcher III, Dagmara Domińczyk and Treat Williams.
23. The Survivor
APRIL 27
Director Barry Levinson is already earning plenty of buzz for this true-story film, in which he traces the story of Auschwitz survivor Harry Haft (played by Ben Foster). While a prisoner, Haft was forced into fighting in gladiator-style boxing matches with his fellow men. Following the war, he returned to boxing as a way to reclaim his life. Vicky Krieps, Peter Sarsgaard, Billy Magnussen, John Leguizamo, and Danny DeVito also star.
24. Bubble
APRIL 28
Not to be confused with The Bubble, which debuts earlier in the month, Bubble is a sci-fi anime from the team behind Attack on Titan. It traces what happens after bubbles that broke the laws of gravity came to Earth, and in particular, it follows a group of young people without families in Tokyo, who have been cut off from the outside world as a result of that aforementioned event.
25. The Offer
APRIL 28
Love The Godfather? Interested to see how it was made? Well if you’ve got some time, this 10-episode offering is here to break it all down for you. The dramatized retelling stars Dan Fogler as director Francis Ford Coppola, Patrick Gallo as author Mario Puzo, Matthew Goode as Paramount head Robert Evans and Miles Teller as Godfather producer Albert S. Ruddy.
“The Offer is the incredible story of producer Al Ruddy going to the mattresses to get his film made,” executive producer Nikki Toscano revealed during the winter TCA press tour. “It’s told from Ruddy’s POV, and it examines the many challenges he faced. Evading mandates from his corporate bosses at Gulf + Western, to threats from the real Mafia, all the while navigating the nuances of Hollywood to get the job done. This series is about the making of an iconic film.”

Spring is right around the corner — seriously, it’s so, so close — but that doesn’t mean we’re quite ready to decrease our TV and movie intake over here. In fact, there are tons of new shows and films that debuted in March 2022. In fact, there were so many that you probably didn’t have time to watch them all. So if you’ve run out of new streaming releases and still need something to watch, check out these can’t-miss streaming releases from last month.
In March, all of the best streaming services brought their A games with plenty of new offerings to keep us entertained. There were more than a few dramatized retellings of big water-cooler events, such as the story of killer Pam Hupp, Theranos leader Elizabeth Holmes and the personalities behind WeWork. The LA Lakers also got a dramatic retelling last month, but that wasn’t the only sports offering in store: March Madness officially arrived, as did one of the most anticipated UFC tickets of the year.
Last month we also added the Oscars to our list, as well as the long-awaited heroics of Moon Knight on Disney+ and an animated The Boys spinoff on Prime Video. Add in a quirky horror-comedy starring Courteney Cox and the return of Admiral Jean-Luc Picard, and there’s something for everyone to stream.
Whether you’re having company over for the big fight or you just want to lounge out on your comfy couch and decompress, here’s everything we were excited to stream in March.
1. West Side Story (2021)

Steven Spielberg’s reimagining of the classic movie-musical West Side Story is finally online for your viewing pleasure, and just in time for the 2022 Academy Awards. The movie is nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, which is another one of the top new streaming releases to watch in March. As is becoming more common, Spielberg’s West Side Story isn’t limited to a single streaming service. You can stream West Side Story on both HBO Max and Disney Plus starting March 2, which means you could be singing along to your favorite songs right now.

2. The Dropout

No matter how many times we hear the story of Elizabeth Holmes and the way she convinced all of those powerful people to invest in her blood-testing company Theranos, it never gets old. But while we’ve taken in plenty of docs on the subject, this dramatized retelling is as good as it gets. Amanda Seyfried stars as the creator in question and traces the story of how she grew her billion-dollar empire before losing it all.
“The timing for me was just, it made it a lot more real,” Seyfried revealed to reporters, including SPY, at the winter Television Critics Association press tour. “Like sometimes you’re on set and you forget that the things that you’re saying actually were said by people, and the things that are being done were actually being done by people, and that someone is actually being prosecuted for these things.”
3. Joe vs Carole

If you’re anything like us, you were also obsessed with Tiger King for a while there, back at the beginning of quarantine. Well here we are two years later, and this dramatized retelling of the story of Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin is coming at us hard and fast. It’s worth a watch if only to see how Kate McKinnon channels her inner questionable cat lady as Carole, but John Cameron Mitchell is pretty spot-on as Joe, too. Joe vs. Carole is definitely one of the top new streaming releases of March 2022, but we have to ask, can the fictional retelling really match the insanity of the real thing?
4. Star Trek: Picard

Patrick Stewart is bringing Admiral Jean-Luc Picard back for a second round of this revival series, and this time around he’s bringing even more familiar faces with him. In this new batch of episodes, John de Lancie and Whoopi Goldberg reprise their respective roles as Q and Guinan, as Picard and his cohorts go back in time to 21st Century Los Angeles.

5. The Tourist

Jamie Dornan continues to prove his dramatic chops with this incoming six-part BBC One drama, which drops in the US this month. It follows a Brit (Dornan) who awakens in Australia with amnesia after a horrific car accident. There, in the Outback, he races to rediscover himself as past enemies begin closing in.
6. The Boys Presents: Diabolical

Need more The Boys in your life? The universe expands this week with new, unseen stories from your favorite rogue superheroes. This animated show features eight, 12-14 minute episodes, each one of which features a different animation style. And yes, all eight episodes drop at once.

7. UFC – Covington vs Masvidal

What happens when former friends and training partners meet up in the octagon? We’re about to find out when this anticipated UFC fight between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal goes down this month.

8. Shining Vale

If comedy horrors are among your favorite TV genres, definitely mark this star-studded offering down. Courteney Cox leads the cast as a writer and mom who has lost her muse (and therefore, potentially the advance on her latest book). But when she and her husband (Greg Kinnear) move their family into a haunted house, the resident ghost (Mira Sorvino) becomes more than inspiration.
9. Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty

Head back to 1979 Los Angeles in producer Adam McKay’s (Don’t Look Up) dramatized retelling of the rise of the Lakers, led by visionary Dr. Jerry Buss (John C. Reilly) and basketball superstar Magic Johnson (Quincy Isaiah). “What’s so amazing about Magic, we know the smile, we know the incredible creativity, but he was a winner,” McKay told outlets, including SPY, recently at the winter Television Critics Association press tour. “I think that’s what’s so exciting about this story was you really saw this style that previously people would have rolled their eyes at become the dominant style of the NBA.”
The 10-episode miniseries is based on the book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s by Jeff Pearlman. The first episode drops this March 6, with subsequent installments hitting each Sunday.
10. The Thing About Pam

Renée Zellweger is used to playing unrecognizable roles, but this may be her most distorted look yet. To play Pam Hupp, the figure at the center of this true-crime drama, Zellweger went all-out with the prosthetics. The story is even more surreal, as it follows the dramatized and murderous events that led to the conviction of this real-life figure, who shot to fame following a podcast of the same name. In fact, that’s what led Zellweger to the role in the first place.
“This is one of those stories that you couldn’t make up,” she said to SPY and other reporters at the winter Television Critics Association press tour. “I binged the podcast, actually, when I was driving up and down the 5 Freeway, going to take my dog to get his hip replaced up in San Francisco, and I couldn’t believe it. It was just an experience of escalating absurdities.”
11. The Adam Project

Director Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds had so much fun teaming up together for last year’s flick Free Guy that they decided to do it all over again for this original Netflix movie. The sci-fi offering revolves around a time-traveling fighter pilot named Adam Reed (Reynolds) who accidentally crashes in 2022. There, he teams up with his 12-year-old self to save the future. Mark Ruffalo, Ryan Reynolds, Jennifer Garner, Catherine Keener, Walker Scobell and Zoe Saldana also star.
12. The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey
MARCH 11
Samuel L. Jackson is the latest big-name actor to join the ranks of Apple TV+ original stars in this adaptation of the novel of the same name by Walter Mosley. The limited series revolves around a 91-year-old man with dementia, who is given the opportunity to regain his memories. With them, he pledges to solve his nephew’s death, all while coming to terms with the past.
13. Turning Red

Looking for a family-friendly offering that will finally give you a break from Encanto this month? We mean, how many times can you NOT talk about Bruno anyhow? Luckily for you, Pixar’s latest big-screen offering is once again skipping theatres and going directly to Disney+. Sandra Oh and Rosalie Chiang team as the voice talents behind this fable, in which a 13-year-old girl turns into a giant red panda whenever she gets too excited.

14. March Madness

The biggest tournament in NCAA sports is finally here. There are tons of games to take in over the next several weeks as 68 teams compete for the iconic trophy. Will last year’s winners, the Baylor Bears, be usurped in that famous bracket? Will Auburn, Gonzaga and Arizona prove projections to be right and make it far? We’ll have to tune in to find out.

15. Deep Water

Want to see the movie that ignited all those sparks between Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas? (Back before he reunited with Jennifer Lopez, that is.) The Adrian Lyne-directed film hits Hulu this week, unraveling the story of a man who allows his wife to have affairs in order to avoid divorce. But things take a sudden shift when he becomes the prime suspect in the disappearance of her lovers.
16. WeCrashed
MARCH 18
Following the pandemic, it’s hard to envision a world in which we ever return to the traditional workforce. But back in 2010, a company called WeWork had big visions about how tech startups and other ventures could create flexible workspaces. This dramatized retelling of the rise and fall of the billion-dollar company and its controversial owners (played by Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway) goes even deeper, adding in narcissism and chaotic love for good measure.
17. Windfall

We think director Charlie McDowell shows a whole new side to his trio of cast members in this Hitchcockian thriller, and that alone makes it worth a watch. Jason Segel stars as a deranged man who breaks into a tech billionaire’s vacation home while he’s away, but when the man (Jesse Plemons) and his wife (Lily Collins) unexpectedly show up, the real psychological fun begins.
18. Atlanta
MARCH 24
The anticipated third season of Donald Glover’s critically acclaimed comedy is finally back, and it’s a moment fans have been waiting for since the second season finale back in May 2018. A fourth and final season is also in store for this fall, which is good news considering Glover originally wanted to end the show after two seasons.
“Death is natural,” he said at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. “I feel like when the conditions are right for something, they happen, and when the conditions aren’t right, they don’t happen. I don’t feel any longevity. Because then things start to get weird. The story was always supposed to be what it was… I think it ends perfectly.”
19. Halo

The anticipated show, based on the beloved Xbox game, finally hits the Paramount Plus streaming service this month after an eight-year development process. Pablo Schreiber, Natascha McElhone, Yerin Ha and Bokeem Woodbine star in the series, which tells the story of aliens attempting to take over humans in the 26th century. Schreiber, who plays Master Chief, promises the wait will be worth it.
“We shot what we shot while we were in Budapest over the last couple of years, and now we’re getting to see it fleshed out in a way on the screen that is just truly mind-blowing,” he said at the winter Television Critics Association press tour. “[It] fits the universe of Halo in such a beautiful way.”

The biggest night in movies is here, or at least if you’re into awards it is. This year’s three-hour show has made some notable changes, such as cutting eight live categories (including original score and film editing) from the broadcast. This year’s show also marks the first time in years there will be more than two hosts: Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes have agreed to co-host, with each of the leading ladies helming their own hour.

21. Moon Knight

Easily one of the top new streaming releases of the month (the year?), Moon Knight is coming soon to Disney+. The latest TV series in the MCU hits the streaming service in late March with the first of six overall episodes. Oscar Isaac, the late Gaspard Ulliel, Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy star in the story of a gift shop employee who happens to share his body with a mercenary named Marc Spector, not to mention the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. The project is the 10th installment of the MCU’s Phase Four, and marks the 19th TV series in the overall universe.

Rewind: What We Were Streaming in February 2022
Considering February is the coldest month of the year, there wasn’t much else to do but bundle up, eat some extra chocolate, pretend to hold onto those New Year’s resolutions a bit longer and, of course, watch some football. Oh, and TV — lots of TV. While February isn’t the most enjoyable month of the year, it is great for TV fans, as the shortest month of the year was packed full of can’t miss streaming releases.
In February, there were tons of new streaming releases, including romantic comedies (thank you, Valentine’s Day), a few anticipated season finales (ahem, Boba Fett), and more than a couple of buzzy TV shows and movies.

The Super Bowl and Winter Olympics were at the top of our must-watch list in February, and you could watch them both on Peacock TV for just $5. HBO Max also had an impressive slate of titles — South Park Season 25, the season finale of Euphoria and Kimi, a new sci-fi thriller from director Steven Soderbergh. On Disney+, the season finale of The Book of Boba Fett was one of the biggest streaming releases of the month, and now you can binge-watch the entire series. 1. The 2022 Winter Olympics

Between Shaun White’s final Olympic run and (another) Russian doping scandal, the Winter Olympics have delivered big drama day after day. 2. South Park Season 25

Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny are back for the 25th season of animated antics and social commentary, not to mention the expected celebrity roasts (we see you, Matt Damon). This latest season comes on the heels of the two pandemic specials (The Pandemic Special and South ParQ Vaccination Special), which served as Season 24.

3. The Book of Boba Fett (finale)

Temuera Morrison’s take on the popular Star Wars character comes to a close this month with the inaugural season finale. Sure, it’s debatable as to whether the series was a deep dive into Boba Fett or an extended episode of The Mandalorian, but either way, the fan service is real.
“I made the most of [my] opportunity when I appeared in The Mandalorian,” Morrison recently told reporters, including SPY, at the winter Television Critics Association press tour. “And I had in the back of my mind this could lead to some more or possibly a show like The Book of Boba, which it did. I’m very honored, very fortunate, and I’m very lucky that the fans received us both well.”

4. The Girl Before

This four-part adaptation of JP Delaney’s novel of the same name hits the streaming service in full this month, unraveling the story of a woman who moves into a seemingly perfect — if not minimalist — house. But when she discovers the architect owner may have more sinister plans in store, the race to uncover the truth about him and the house’s past is on. Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jessica Plummer and David Oyelowo star.
5. Kimi

Zoë Kravitz stars in director Steven Soderbergh’s latest drama, in which an agoraphobic tech worker in Seattle uncovers evidence of a violent crime. But when she tries to report it, things take an unexpected turn, leading her to leave her apartment grudgingly. Rita Wilson, Erika Christensen, India de Beaufort and Robin Givens also star.
6. Star Trek: Discovery (S4 midseason debut)

Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) returns for the back half of this Star Trek series’ fourth season, boldly going into the 32nd century to confront unchartered mysteries and Big Bads with the rest of her crew. For fans wondering about the fate of Tilly (Mary Wiseman) following the midseason finale, showrunner Michelle Paradise confirms she’s still very much a part of this world. “I expect that we will see her again, for sure,” she told TVLine. “We didn’t send her far, far away. We’re keeping her close.”

7. I Want You Back

Are you looking for a romantic comedy to celebrate with during the month of love? Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, the scribes behind This Is Us, have written this breakup rom-com for you. When two people meet on the same day that their significant others break up with them, they forge an unlikely alliance to get their loved ones back. Jenny Slate, Charlie Day, Gina Rodriguez, Scott Eastwood, Manny Jacinto and Clark Backo star.
8. Love Is Blind (S2)

The love experiment that seemingly predicted dating in quarantine before the pandemic hit is back for a second season. Follow along as a new batch of men and women date in pods without ever seeing each other face-to-face. Then, watch as they propose and decide to spend a lifetime together, all without first seeing if there’s any physical attraction. (Although, of course, that part comes later.)
9. Inventing Anna

Creator Shonda Rhimes’ latest series via her output deal with Netflix drops this week with Julia Garner (Ozark) in the leading role. This new streaming release is a fictional take is based on the real-life story of Anna Sorokin, a Russian scam artist who worked her way into the New York social scene and stole millions by posing as a German heiress named Anna Delvey. Anna Chlumsky also stars as the real-life journalist who investigated her.
10. Marry Me
COMING FEB. 11
Jennifer Lopez, Maluma and Owen Wilson star in this music-filled rom-com that also hits just in time for the month of love. The film is an adaptation of Bobby Crosby’s graphic novel and revolves around a superstar who is all set to marry her equally famous superstar boyfriend in front of a crowd. But when she learns seconds before the vows that he’s been stepping out on her, she decides to marry a stranger in the crowd instead.
11. The Sky Is Everywhere

This teen, coming-of-age film based on the novel by Jandy Nelson also hits theatres this month, releasing the story of a grieving sister wide and far. Grace Kaufman leads a cast including Jason Segal and Cherry Jones, as director Josephine Decker examines grief, love and the undeniable connection between the two.
12. Bel-Air

This dramatized new streaming release is a retelling of the classic 1990s sitcom starring Will Smith finally debuts this month after a years-long development process. Inspired by Morgan Cooper’s 2019 short film of the same name, Bel-Air follows Will (Jabari Banks) as he picks up his life and moves from Philadelphia to California to put his life back on track. All of the characters you know and love — Carlton, Uncle Phil, Ashely, Hilary, Aunt Viv, Geoffrey and Jazz — are there. Only this time around, there is more real-life drama and fewer laugh tracks.

13. Luda Can’t Cook

Rapper Ludacris is back with new episodes of his one-time foodie special, in which he works with acclaimed chefs to master some of the most famous cuisines from around the world. New episodes include plates from Haiti, Cuba and Korea, so bring your appetite.
“I had an amazing experience the first time around and went from being clueless in the kitchen to making some delicious dishes,” Ludacris said in a press release. “I’m excited to team up again with Discovery+ and (executive producer) Will Packer to master all different kinds of cuisine so I can impress my wife, mom and kids with my new skills.”

14. Discovering David Dobrik

If you followed social media star David Dobrik as he adventured and sampled the lavish life in Dubai, this latest installment is a bit of a departure. Follow along as the personality heads to South Africa to disconnect from big-city life, bringing his buddies along with him so that they can get in touch with their inner animals.

15. Severance

Ben Stiller continues his quest to bring us complex and interesting dramas from behind-the-scenes with his latest project, which he directs and executive produces. Severance tackles the very relevant question of what it would be like to separate your personal and professional lives, except in the most extreme way possible. Adam Scott stars as the employee who surgically divides his memories, but when a mysterious former colleague (and his unrecognizable best friend) returns, he questions the truth about his job.
“Television has changed a lot. There’s just the opportunity to do so many different kinds of things and explore so many different genres,” Stiller said to reporters, including SPY, at the winter Television Critics Association press tour. “It’s the place where you go if you want to take chances and explore different genres and work with really amazing people.”

16. Space Force (S2)

The Space Force is back, and if General Naird (Steve Carell) and Dr. Mallory (John Malkovich) have anything to say about it, this season will be just as full of ridiculous hijinks as the last. The second season picks up with Naird and his team proving to a new administration that they aren’t as incapable as they seem, despite some new curveballs heading their way. All seven half-hour, second-season episodes drop at once.
17. The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder

Disney Channel’s popular animated series is back. This Proud Family revival follows the story of teen Penny Proud and her family in the 2020s. There will be lots to dig into, considering the original show debuted two decades ago now, but it sounds as though the creatives behind the series are confident that now’s the time to bring it back.
“Before we had to sort of tiptoe around certain issues, sort of use coded language. Now we can go pretty much straight at it,” teased executive producer Ralph Farquhar to reporters, including SPY, at the winter Television Critics Association press tour. “The biggest change in the twenty years is the gender identity, and so we’ve introduced the LGBTQ community into the series with the Michael character especially. We went out and hired EJ Johnson to voice Michael, and that is probably one of the biggest changes we’ve made.”

18. Destination Fear: Trail to Terror

Paranormal hunter Dakota Laden is back. In this documentary and inspiration for his TV series, Destination Fear, Laden recruits his sister Chelsea Laden and his best friends Tanner Wiseman and Coalin Smith for a journey to test the limits of fear. The only thing Laden reveals to his travel companions is they will be sleeping alone for five consecutive nights in five of the most haunted locations across America. Cameras capture all of the action, and we recommend that you maybe don’t watch this one in the dark.

19. Vikings: Valhalla

Break out those shields because the anticipated Vikings spinoff is finally here, unrolling a story that takes place 100 years after the saga of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons ended. Expect more violence, blood and gore in this series, with new showrunner Jeb Stuart at the helm. This tale specifically follows the adventures of famed Viking Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett) and his sister Freydis (Frida Gustavsson) as they depart Kattegat and adventure to conquer new and unexplored lands. 20. Reno 911! Defunded
COMING FEB. 25
Original Reno 911 cast members Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garant, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Niecy Nash and Cedric Yarbrough have assembled for another round of antics, and they’re now facing their biggest challenge yet: they’ve been defunded. Roku continues to expand its slate of originals with this 11-episode entry, which also includes guest stars like Jamie Lee Curtis, “Weird Al” Yankovic and George Lopez.
21. Euphoria (finale)

The second season of this HBO Max series has consistently trended across social media platforms during its eight-episode run, which wraps with a Feb. 27 finale. Viewership of this streaming release has also exploded since the show’s return: the current season has doubled in the ratings from Season 1, leading HBO to announce a Season 3 renewal in early February.
