If you are an American tennis-lover, you've likely known that Labor Day is dedicated to watching the US Open in Flushing Queens. I've been to the event a few times and it's awesome. The 2023 US Open promises to be an exciting even in New York City full of lots of great tennis and family fun. In our annual feature we talk about getting your kids involved in the on-court crew and how to enjoy the tennis.
New for this year is a fun poster honoring Billie Jean King and the the 50th anniversary of equal prize money at the US Open. That's pretty awesome equity in sports and I can't wait to watch the tennis that will happen in NYC.

Kids Day at the US Open
We'll have more information on Arthur Ashe Kids' Day soon. The event is traditionally held on the Saturday of Fan Week. Activities include tennis on 14 courts, and a wide range of interactive activities for children of all ages and skill levels organized by Net Generation.
Tennis games aren't all that goes on around the grounds on this busy day. Kids can have their fun off the court with face-painting and airbrush tattoos, a juggling workshop, hair beading and braiding, and storytelling stations. Balloon artists and other roving entertainers will also be thrilling attendees with their talents.
What to Wear
To participate in interactive games, kids must wear sneakers or may be asked to remove their shoes. Those with special needs are welcome on all courts. Court times for all activities will vary throughout the day.
After getting their fill on and off the court, inspiration will surely strike further when kids watch their favorite ATP and WTA players practice. With the start of the year's final Grand Slam just two days away when the gates open, pros will be training throughout the day in Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium and Grandstand, as well as on Court 17 and Practice Courts 1-5.
About Arthur Ashe
Arthur Ashe firmly believed that tennis had the ability to teach life skills. All kids needed, he said, was a chance. To give them that, Ashe, along with longtime friends Charlie Pasarell and Sheridan Snyder, founded the National Junior Tennis League in 1969. It was created as a way to gain and hold the attention of young people, with the hope of teaching them the importance of character, getting an education and becoming productive citizens.
Net Generation, official youth tennis of the USTA, is a celebration of a game where no one sits on the sidelines. It's easy to learn and tailored for all ages and abilities, giving kids a game that will help them build friendships and learn skills they'll use for life.
