‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’: The 8 Coolest Toys, Board Games, and Playsets

As the release date for the Han Solo prequel flick, Solo: A Star Wars story approaches, stories of the film’s production woes and director switches fade like twin sunsets into the Tatooine sand, leaving only sweet anticipation. While we all wait to see if Alden Ehrenreich can step into Solo’s swagger as easily as Harrison Ford, or if Donald Glover can actually get any more awesome, take a moment to pore over some of the coolest toys from Solo: A Star Wars Story currently on shelves.

Star Wars Force Link 2.0 Han Solo Landspeeder and Figure

Solo features a breakneck race/chase sequence no doubt inspired by George Lucas’s reckless, car-obsessed youth (an era captured in his directorial debut, American Graffiti, starring Solo director Ron Howard). Now you can relive young Han’s speed demon days with this replica speeder, complete with a 3.75-inch Solo. The speeder and figure are compatible the new “Force Link 2.0” tech (which recreates phrases and sound effects from the movie) and the vehicle features a “crumple zone” that recreates crash damage and an ejector seat that tosses both driver and passengers.

Lego Star Wars Kessel Run Millennium Falcon

In the Solo era, the fabled fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy is still a pristine, well-polished Corellian freighter. Now Lego has captured this iconic ship’s salad days with this set that comes six minifigures, a completely tricked-out cargo area (up for a game of holochess?), and an escape pod that, when removed, gives the ship’s front its signature two-pronged look. We have to wait until the release date to find how Solo famously made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs, but, at 1,414 pieces, this set is sure to keep us busy until then.

The first Solo series features Han, Lando, and Q’ira, a mysterious woman (played by Game of Thrones’s Emilia Clarke) that has some history with Solo. Plus, every Star Wars movie features new stormtroopers, and Solo is no exception. The Black Series’ Range Troopers look like a cross between Rogue One’s Death Troopers and the snowtroopers that stormed Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back.
