The Toy of the Year Awards are frequently referred to as the “Oscars” of the industry, and now the nominations for 2022’s prizes have been revealed.
The TOTY 2022 voting process includes input from not only consumers, but also members of The Toy Association, retailers, journalists, bloggers, and academics. Voting closes on 4 January, 2022 and the winners will be announced during a gala celebration at the New York Marriott Marquis on 18 February, 2022.
TOTY supports The Toy Foundation, which helps bring joy and comfort to children in need through the experience of toys and play.
Four weighted ballots – one each for retailers (30%), media (30%), consumers (10%), and Toy Association members (30%) – are open from now through to January 4, 2022.
The overall Toy of the Year will be chosen by a panel of industry representatives who will consider multiple factors in making their decision, including Toy of the Year votes, holiday sales and media buzz (traditional, online, and social).
