4 Tips for Having the Perfect Rainy Saturday At Home

Ideally, you’d wake up on a Saturday morning, look out your window, and see blue skies for as far as you can see. When that happens, you’ll know that the day presents endless possibilities for adventure and good times with your family. Alas, when you live in the UK, you know there’s always a chance that you’ll wake up to torrential rain.

But does that mean that you have to settle for a wasted day? Not at all. Saturday is most likely your favorite day of the week, so it’s important to make the most of it, no matter what’s going on with the weather, and even if you have to stay inside. Follow these tips to take full advantage of your rainy day at home.

Saturday is most likely your favorite day of the week, so it’s important to make the most of it, no matter what’s going on with the weather, and even if you have to stay inside. Follow these tips to take full advantage of your rainy day at home.

Lazy Mornings

There aren’t too many opportunities to spend longer than normal under the covers, but a rainy Saturday morning is one of them. If the sun was shining you’d want to jump up and make the most of it. But when it’s raining cats and dogs? You’ll know that you have nowhere to be and nothing to do, and that allows you to fully embrace the comfort of being in bed. Alternatively, you can take your duvet to the couch and watch some Saturday morning cartoons with your family.

A Delicious Breakfast

There are times when you’ll want to eat breakfast quickly so you can get the day underway. But on a rainy Saturday morning, breakfast doesn’t have to be purely functional; it can be an activity within itself. This is a chance to push the boat out slightly and put together a breakfast that is out of the ordinary. You could follow this blueberry muffin recipe for an easy breakfast that your kids will love, or you could go big with a full English breakfast. Whatever you decide to do, make sure it’s an event, and be sure to rope in your family to help, too.

Get Out of the House

We know we said that this was a rainy Saturday at home, but we think there’s some value in getting out of the house for at least a little while, even if it’s a torrential downpour. Throw on your waterproof clothing, grab your umbrellas, and go for a short walk. You’ll get a little wet, but it’s only water, and you’ll feel oh-so-happy to get back to your cosy home.

Activities

And what about when you’re back home? A rainy afternoon is a good opportunity to have some fun with the kids. Depending on their ages, this could involve playing a board game, engaging in an arts and crafts project, or simply making make-believe with their favorite toys.

Once that fun is over, it’ll be time to settle in for the evening. Make the night special by hosting your own family movie night. Pick one of those all-time classic family movies, make some popcorn, and sink into the sofa wearing your comfortable clothing. It’ll be the perfect end to a perfect day.
